Danskin Sprint Triathlon
July 27, 2008
Webster, MA

Sprint Distances -- Swim: 1/2 mile; Bike: 12.5 miles; Run: 3.2 miles.

This was my third Danskin Tri and my fourth Tri. The training and build up to the actual race is a process I love and cherish. It's challenging and difficult, but the rewards truly are priceless.
I've come to know that each swim stroke, each push and pull of the bike pedals and each step of the run lead me to more healthy and higher states in all realms. It is this knowledge and the support of my coaches and team that inspire me to keep moving towards the Finish Line, even when the trickster part of my body and mind try to convince me that I can't move one more inch and I have to stop.
All the lessons in life can be found, literally and/or metaphorically in the process of training for and participating in a triathlon.

The day's experience is summed up in the words I wrote to my coaches, Lynne and Janice, some hours after the race. "Before I go to sleep tonight I want to write to you and tell you both how incredibly happy I feel. I LOVED today!!! Thank you both so much for offering me and so many of us the opportunity to be athletes and strive for fitness -- physical, mental, emotional and spiritual -- in such awesome ways. During the training season I get so focused on the individual challenges that I forget what an incredible thrill it is to put them all together on my way to the finish line."

One other inspiring message I received this year that I want to share:
In her talk the day before the race, Sally Edwards, an accomplished triathlete who champions the race for Danskin, and who is 60 years old and in incredible shape said, "As you get older, its gets better...if you're fit." Exactly!!!
My hope and prayer is to have the great blessing to be healthy and able to keep on TRIing.

Thank you to all my wonderful teammates and everyone who supports us!
